Major project of the melbourne metro

Even in Down Under Elephant Brakes by Rietschoten come into use now. We supplied brakes for a huge project of Melbourne Metro.
 
Trust is essential in sectors in which highest security standards and reliability are of greatest value. It is important to develop and strengthen the relations with established customers and prospects through close cooperation and communications. Thus, it is very rare for nameable foreign clients to place an order without further references or relations.
 
Somewhat surprising we received an inquiry by Eilbeck Cranes, an global overhead crane manufacturer, to supply R&H 200 brakes for cover the  2000kg man riding capability to four of ES80 50 t Mucking Cranes.
 
Metro Tunnel Project in Melbourne, the biggest project of Melbourne railways, after the City Loop of 1981, which connects the important underground stations Flagstaff, Melbourne Central and Parliament with the busiest stations Flinders Street and Southern Cross. However, this solution is not sufficient anymore. As in many big cities worldwide, the existing public transportation network of Melbourne is being overcapacity. In 2018 the construction of a 9 km long rail tunnel as well as five new underground stations started. The new tunnel will connect the Sunbury and Dandenong railway route. Furthermore, it will give passengers the opportunity to easily access the City Loop. Operations are expected to start in 2025. An ambitious project that requires know-how, manpower – and the essential machinery. Such as the ES80 50 t that is now equipped with our R&H 200 brakes.
 
For this order we provided the brake R&H 200.552.01, that is used for upper exigencies. As usual we customized the brake with our modular construction system to fit the client’s needs.  Our solution was a spring-applied, hydraulically released passive brake with a braking force of 10.400 N. The product was complemented with a monitoring unit that will send a signal when the brake is released.
 
The outcome is excellent. As if we had planned beforehand, the brake´s design blend in perfectly with the electric wire rope hoist. Not only was the design satisfying. Apparently, engineering, service and cost/ ratio performance made in Germany were also convincing: By now, Elephant Brakes by Rietschoten received further queries from Eilbeck Cranes for new project at Brisbane Cross River Rail Queensland Australia and Auckland Rail New Zealand both currently under manufacture.
 
We are proud to now be presented on the other side of the word as well. This marks the beginning of a hopefully long-term and successful collaboration.
