We are participating in the largest private construction project in US history and the most extensive project of its kind in New York City since the Rockefeller Center was built. The "Hudson Yards" complex in Manhattan, which encloses more than 1.6 million square metres, has residential and commercial space as well as high-rise office buildings. There is space for over 100 shops and around 4000 flats.
In another cooperation with a well-known lift manufacturer, Elephant Brakes by Rietschoten supplies the brakes for the high-performance lifts in "50 Hudson Yards". 27 further lifts will follow for "55 Hudson Yards" and another twelve for the first so-called Multi-Arts Center "The Shed". The TWIN lift system is the industry's first system with two independent cabs running above each other in the same shaft. The lifts will be equipped with the first cloud-based maintenance solution. The aim is to achieve maximum efficiency in terms of space and energy use and significantly shorter transport times.
The braking systems are also expected to deliver maximum performance under such conditions. "50 Hudson Yards" is a 300-metre high skyscraper which, when completed in 2022, will be the fourth tallest building in Manhattan. The lifts will transport passenger loads of up to 1,800 kg per trip at maximum speeds of up to 7 m/s. Similar to the braking systems for the Freedom Tower in New York City and the World Financial Center in Shanghai, the necessary performance will be achieved by using our hydraulic braking systems for "50 Hudson Yards", which will be supplied together with our hydraulic system.
Once again: Safety and reliablitiy Made in Germany pays off!
